Flying Officer James “Jimmy” Henry Scott Lyon DFC, RAAF was born in
Sale, Victoria on 27th June 1922 and was the son of
James and Muriel Lyon of Woodside, Victoria, Australia and brother
of Margaret and Gwen. He married Margaret Bruce of Brighton,
Victoria at Newark on the 23rd November 1943 and they
were expecting their first child when he was killed. He was the
pilot of Wellington X LN 660/0 of 11 OTU from RAF Westcott,
Buckinghamshire when it collided with Stirling III EH 989 of 90
squadron which was returning from a raid on Amiens, France on 15/16th
March 1944
He is buried in Lennel Old Churchyard, Berwickshire, Scotland.
