Sergeant Ernest Edward Bemrose was serving as an Air Gunner on board Lancaster MK.I PA158 coded WP-S for an operation to bomb the Hansa benzol facility at Dortmund on February 3/4 1945. The aircraft departed from Tuddenham at 1642hrs but failed to return, all of the crew were killed.

Sergeant Ernest Edward Bemrose was the son of George and Charlotte Bemrose of Wrawby, Lincolnshire. He had an older brother and sister, Will and May and a younger brother Leslie. He was unmarried and worked on a farm prior to enlisting.

He is buried in the Rheinberg War Cemetery along with the other members of his crew.
