Daniel Burden was serving as Mid-Upper Gunner on board Lancaster
MK.III LM-423 coded PG-H for an operation to Berlin on
January 2/3, 1944. The aircraft departed from Woodhall Spa at
2343hrs but was intercepted by an enemy nightfighter and
shot down, crashing near Kleve. Four of the seven crewmembers
were killed, including Sgt. Burden, they are buried at
Reichswald Forest War Cemetery.

Sergeant Daniel
"Danny" Burden RAFVR was born at Pendelton,
Salford, Lancashire on 5th April 1923. He was the son of
William and Maria Burden. He was the youngest brother of
Prudence, Robert, Joseph, Mary, William and Winifred and 20
years of age at the time of his death.
