during an
operation to
Braunschweig, a working class industrial city which was the centre
of the German armament industry, on
January 14/15,1944. The aircraft
crashed at Lagershausen some 6 km NE of Northeim. All of
the seven man crew were killed, including
Flying Officer Geoffrey Holmes. The crew

and the son of Charles and Dora Holmes and brother of Vera. He
attended Manchester Grammar School before enlisting.
