 Flight Lieutenant Frank Badgery began his operational tour while the squadron was stationed at Tholthorpe, he and his crew survived their tour of operations without injury despite flying some operations which had proven costly for the squadron. All operations were flown in Handley Page Halifaxes Mk. V's and BIII's.

He was originally from Cumnock, Central West N.S.W. Australia.

This distinguished Officer did his training in England at No.24 OTU and on completion there was posted to 1659 HCU at Topcliffe. Subsequently posted to 431 RCAF Squadron in September 1943 stationed at Tholthorpe under No.6 Group Bomber Command.

He attained the rank of Flight Lieutenant, completed his tour in August 1944 and on September 15th 1944 he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
