Sergeant William
(Billy) Oram was serving as Wireless Operator on board Wellington MK.III
X3873 coded ZL-R for a
mining operation to the Frisian Islands on January 21/22, 1943. The aircraft and crew
were lost without a trace, the crew are commemorated on the
Runnymede Memorial.

Sergeant William "Billy" John Oram
RAFVR aged 19.Son of William and Florence and brother of Fred of
Woodford Green, Essex. Billy Oram was born on the 27th of May
1923, his service record shows 27th May 1922 but Billy lied about
his age to enlist in the RAFVR on 21st October 1940.
