Sergeant Evan Tucker was serving
on board Halifax Mk.III
MZ342 coded DT-B during an operation to Stettin on the
February 8/9 1945. The aircraft left Foulsham at 1941hrs but
on the homebound journey at 2,000 feet it was involved in a
mid-air collision with Lancaster I PD376 of 625 squadron,
flown by P/O D.E. Chalkley. The Lancaster was to escape any
serious damage but the Halifax crashed into the sea with the
loss of the entire crew.

Sergeant
Evan Albert Ernest Tucker was born at Boldventure, Bethel,
St.Austell, Cornwall on the 5th of June 1925 to
Edgar Evan and Dorothy Tucker. He had one sister Enid Margaret
born in 1933.He attended Mount Charles Primary School and West
Hill Central School before working as a telegram delivery boy
for the Post Office..
F/Sgt Webb
is buried in the cemetery at Esbjerg while Sergeant Woods
rests in Husby Churchyard. The rest of the crew are
commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
