Flying Officer David
Finnigan was serving as Navigator on board Halifax Mk.III
MZ342 coded DT-B during an operation to Stettin on the
February 8/9 1945. The aircraft left Foulsham at 1941hrs but
on the homebound journey at 2,000 feet it was involved in a
mid-air collision with Lancaster I PD376 of 625 squadron,
flown by P/O D.E. Chalkley. The Lancaster was to escape any
serious damage but the Halifax crashed into the sea with the
loss of the entire crew.

Officer David Percy Maeers Finnigan RAFVR was the son of
Stanley and Mabel Finnigan and brother of Colin, Norman and
Barbara of Southgate, Middlesex. He and his crew are
commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
