Sergeant John Frederick Alfred Trehearn  - RAFVR


Sergeant John Trehearn was serving as Wireless Operator on board Halifax Mk.II W7833 coded DY-R for an operation to Hamburg July 29/30, 1943. The aircraft departed Pocklington at 2239hrs it is believed that they were shot down by a night-fighter (Lt Sachsenberg,11./NJG3) crashing at Todesfelde. All of the crew including Sgt Trehearn, were killed, they are burried at the Hamburg Cemetery.

 Sergeant John Frederick Alfred Trehearn RAFVR was the son of John Griffiths and Marion Trehearn of Durban, Natal, South Africa. John was 21 years of age at the time of his death.
